Clearing the Mists of Time on International Women's Day, 3/8/14

"HI."
One word, but so many words unspoken.

It had been 25 years since I had heard that voice on the other end of the phone and I didn't recognize the phone number on my cell phone when I picked up the phone.
Yet, within seconds of hearing the one word greeting, I knew who was on the phone. He didn't say his name, didn't have to.
How does that happen?
Like voice recognition deep within cell memory.

It was an ex-boyfriend from long ago, when I was a teen and I believed in princes saving princesses in distress.
The years rolled back ,
and I was that young girl again, for a moment.

I remembered the good times with my ex (the caller on the phone), when he was like a gallant, dark-haired prince in his black, vintage Camaro with the rainbow pin-striping and I was a funky princess, waiting to be rescued from darkness.
Yes, the memories all started coming back to me.
Memories of the darkness too...
I then realized the date today and its significance to this blast from the past.
March 8, International Women's Day, celebrating the strength of women everywhere.

March 8, the birthday of the 20 year old man who raped me when I was a 16 year old girl.
Why do I remember his birthdate? Why?
Like date recognition deep within cell memory.

The rapist was an acquaintance whom I had met at a party, 2 weeks prior to the "rape night". He was 20, a college guy, tan, blonde, green-eyed, a soccer-playing All-American kind of male. I was a confused, punk-rocker/metal chick wannabe. My thick black eyeliner and eternally black clothing choices were what I wore to disguise the sensitive artist/hippie chick within.

A classic case of never judging books by their covers! Mr. Clean Cut rapes Edgy-Looking Metalhead Chick. No one believed Metal Chick's story. Mr. Clean Cut was so charming to others. Metal Chick stops asking for help and resigns herself at the time to half a life.

Mr. Clean Cut rapist was a manipulator/stalker and he was good at it. He wanted to keep me under his control as his girlfriend. I bided my time. I had a plan. I felt trapped and stayed with him for 2 1/2  years, until I could escape out of town to go to college.

Part of keeping my sanity at that time in my high school life, was having my secret "Knight in shining Camaro" whom I would sneak out with when I could, away from my stalker, rapist boyfriend, riding around like a princess rescued from her imprisoning tower, if only for a couple of hours.

Ahhh, sweet freedom.

I remember that feeling like it was yesterday with the wind streaming through my hair as the Camaro drove through the night, reminding me to keep hope and patience for an easy, happy future.

It was like I had the White Knight with dark hair and the Black Knight with blonde hair, the yin and the yang, at the same time, balancing out the scales of good and evil, of love and control.

All three of us, the Black Knight, the White Knight and the Funky Princess eventually all went our separate ways when I made my escape to the city for college, as I had planned. That's where I met my True Love, who taught me that I was my own Knight in shining armor and helped me learn to love myself first.

Enough of that story for now......Fast forward all these years later...

Why is all this coming around again in my thoughts now, 3/8/14, with that one phone call, clearing the mists of time?
I have a psychologist friend who thinks its because the time has come for me to acknowledge the love in all the darkness of the past and to help hold that thought in my healing of the past thoughts.

I wonder if perhaps, the Universe wants me to recognize myself as a strong woman on International Women's Day and to see the strong girl that survived the turmoils of a dark night of the soul. To recognize that there are many women, quietly keeping their story deep within them.
I know I am not the only woman to have survived some version of 3 years of molestation in grade school and date rape as a teen.
If I am brave and I share this story today, I speak for quiet women survivors everwhere.
The brave women survivors could be your mother, your sister, your friend, your daughter.
Maybe their incident happened long ago, lost in the mists of time, yet still in need of healing.

Trust me, the years may pass, but the soul looks for clarity and peace to make sense of the senseless. Sometimes this shows up out of the blue; the phone call from the past, a picture on facebook, the doctor visit that brings tears for some reason, the news story of a senseless act.

And the mists of time clear, and the memories come back, begging for sorting, crying to be acknowledged.

My psychologist friend contends that if it comes back around, it's meant to be dealt with in a healthier way, so one can finally be set free of past turmoil or else it will come around another way, another time to be dealt with again.

My prayer, on this day of celebrating the strength of women, is that each woman finds their own Inner Knight and learns to love herself as much as she loves others.
I also pray that everyone can look someday and see the love that shines even in the darkest night of the soul, through the mists of time.

Love, light and shine bright!

ps- The numerology aspects of the 8 and the 3 is interesting too, since 3/8 is the date of all this clarity.  The 3 is about expressing one's self and the eight is about success , prosperity and power. They add up to 11, which is a number of higher purpose. I choose to think that this is a great empowering time to finally let my story out in the hopes that it can somehow empower others.

Embracing the Snowflakes

Here in New Jersey, March is blowing in on the tails of a snowy February.
What a lot of lessons we all learned with having to deal with frequent snowfall and the way it would change our plans this winter. So many school snow days off, so many canceled/rescheduled events with clients and friends.
I think at last count, we've had 15 snow storms! I've lived here my whole life and this is unprecedented! Usually snow will last 2 days here and then it's gone. The past 2 months have looked like a constant white landscape to gaze upon.
Where are we? It can be disorienting. It's so different then what I've known here my whole life.
All this snow gets one thinking!
Perhaps the Universe was telling us all to slow down, and snuggle up by the hearth a little more frequently. To remember that life is unpredictable , in constant change and movement and to slow down and appreciate letting go of schedules and plans once in a while. Instead of 'seizing the day', how about 'embracing the moment'?
Happy hibernating!

It's in the Numbers (Using them to communicate with the Angels)

Unbelievable?  I've witnessed lots of miracles in this life as a psychic/medium/angel intuitive, but this was off the charts!

1   2    3    4    5    6    7    8    9    1

About 10 days ago, I was dreaming about a sequence of numbers , the alarm clock goes off and I hear the radio DJ reading out the winning multi-million dollar Powerball numbers and they are all but one of the numbers I dreamed about!
The last number was different, but the whole thing was so surreal , like out of a movie!
How did I dream of almost all the numbers?
I didn't even know there was a big lottery drawing going on! It knocked my socks off!
I don't watch tv or listen to the radio much at all, so the timing of hearing the "reading of the numbers", immediately upon awaking, was amazing in itself.

I had one friend tell me, " I would have been kicking myself that I didn't play the numbers." But, I was just so excited at the miraculousness of the moment, I didn't even consider kicking myself! I figure, if it happened once, it will happen again! The next time, I'll pray for more notice so that I can buy a ticket first too.

I asked my friend, Traci Rosenberg, a numerologist, (www.SoulTalkWithTraci.com) her perspective on what happened.
Traci told me that it was a way for the Universe to get my attention, that the personal message to me was the number that was different. I had to laugh!

The last number I dreamed was '1', the number the Powerball sequence didn't have.  I've been seeing 1, 11 and 111 everywhere for the past 2 months!

I know in angel numbers, (Doreen Virtue writes about them in her book, Angel Numbers 101), that seeing 1's, especially the 111 sequence, represents keeping thoughts positive and that new opportunities are presenting themselves.

Traci knows numbers from the Pythagorean numerology perspective. Pythagoras lived around 569 BC, and is said to be the Father of modern geometry. My view of what he taught is that numbers are the building blocks of the universe and that numbers, people, food, plants, etc. all vibrate. In using numerology, you learn the vibration/numbers of things so one can choose to use or do things that vibrate at the same frequency, making for a more harmonious experience in life.

Traci explained that the '1' represents "New beginnings, new creation, original ideas. It's confirmation for you! The fact that it was thrown in with the lottery is saying that your new venture will bring lots of money!" (Traci knows that I've been planning a new business venture involving angels.)

So, maybe not everyone will dream about winning lottery
numbers, but what about recurring numbers popping up in other ways for your life? Take notice of billboards, the digital clock time, license plates around you and store receipts. Is there a number message waiting for you to notice?

ANGEL NUMBER MEANINGS:
I've simplified the meaning of the numbers from Doreen Virtue's , Angel Numbers 101 book (please read her book for a deeper explanation of each sequence)  -http://spiritlibrary.com/doreen-virtue/angel-numbers:

111- Keep thoughts positive, a time of new opportunity, it's a time of manifesting quickly

123- Keep it simple!

222- Don't worry, be happy! Have faith!

333- Ascended Masters are around right now (ex: The Virgin Mary, Quan Yin, etc.)

444- You are surrounded by angels right now,  and life is good!

555- It's a time of change, just go with the flow!

666- Balance is important right now. Focus on others , not material needs, and all will balance out.

777- A time of miracles, or 'a pat on the back' for doing a good job

888- An ending and a new beginning unfolds now (usually in career or relationship)  Enjoy life!

999- Follow your life purpose now! When you are on your life path with passion, you light up and help others see their own path.

000- Reminder that all are united with the Creator, in one love and also that a situation has come full circle.

Keep your eyes open for the miracles in your life!

What's Your Game-Changer for This Year?

January 2014
In the here, in the now....inhale peace, exhale love...inhale love, exhale joy...
Good reminders as the beginning of 2014 is now under way.
As the last of 2013 bid adieu, I found myself at a soccer tournament in Florida for the new year beginning. It wasn't what I would have planned for my usual 'homebody', serene, New Year's tradition of sleeping through the annual changeover, but I "went with the flow" for the sake of my daughter.
I'll admit, it wasn't easy at the time for me to go, and I resisted. I was healing a bruised tailbone (from a chair that broke while I was at an event for Christmas, playing the crystal singing bowls), getting over a cold and recovering from a medical procedure that was earlier in December. My being just wanted to rest in the comforts of home and routine.
Or so I thought!
As I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and went to Florida, I found a lot of soccer, but I also found a personal 'game changer'.
Getting myself out of my comfort zone forced me to be more 'in the flow' of moment to moment as I didn't know my way around and didn't have a regular routine.
Being more in the moment helped me forget all the things that 'needed' healing when I was at home.
Halfway through my week in Florida, despite the "cooler than usual" Florida weather and the rigors of a soccer tournament, I realized that I felt fantastic!
It's like a 'restart' button was pushed, and I wasn't thinking about 'stuff', I was just living! Being out of my 'zone' helped me let go of what I no longer needed so I could just 'BE ME'. So joyful was the fun I had when I stepped out of my comfort zone!
Perhaps there's something new for you to try this year, outside of your comfort zone? What's a game-changer for you? Can you let go of things that happened in 2013 so you can be more fully present in 2014? It's a new year, new you, new beginning.
In the here, in the now..inhale peace, exhale love...inhale love, exhale joy!

Embracing Your Inner Turkey

Dec. 2013
On this snowy, New Jersey morning, I see the wild turkeys journeying quickly through the woods. In the pristine, 8- inch deep, surprise, snow delivery the Universe bestowed yesterday, they scurry along, determined. I am reminded of the journey of all of us during this season. A time of hustling and bustling in the longer darkness until the light prevails on the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21. A time of striving to keep in step with the preparations of the holiday season so we don't get stressed, but also a time of wonder/expectancy as to what's ahead in the new year. A time for keeping our heads held high, one step at a time, as we move forward into more days of light. The turkey, as an animal totem, can represent fertility/abundance, sacrifice/generosity, opportunities for growth and rebirth, but also represents showing our true 'feathers' and shining our own light confidently.  With wishes of much love , light and blessings of abundance this holiday season, I invite you to embrace and radiate your inner sparkle in the year ahead!
